No Waiting Period for Maruti Swift

Here is some good news for those wanting to buy a Maruti Swift or Swift Dzire. The two siblings no longer command a long waiting period that they did a couple of months ago. The petrol version of both cars is now available off the shelf as apposed to one-month wait in most cities a while ago. Their diesel versions though still have a waiting of about three to four weeks, considerably lower than the 3-4 month  wait a few months ago. Maruti dealers says that the lower waiting period is due to two key rivals- the Ford Figo and Toyota Etios saloon.
Some prospective swift diesel owners prefer to shop at the Ford showroom when they realize that the Figo comes with better equipment in terms of ABS and airbags at roughly the same price. But the bigger hit comes from the Etios saloon. Toyota dealers says that prospective buyers are ready to book the car, even without a test drive. Even some of them have canceled their Dzire bookings and then booked the 'Toyota mid-sizer'.
Nevertheless , there are still no discounts on the swift and Dzire since the sales slowdown has been marginal. Lets hope, Maruti comes up with some schemes to drive sale of these cars.
